so i thought and thought about whether or not to even write a post about what we're dealing with with jacob. part of me wants him to know in the future how much i agonized over what to do for him, and part of me doesn't. mostly, i don't want him "labeled". he really is such a GREAT sweet kid. he has a good heart. his head just doesn't always work with him it seems. so we've been seeing a conselor for a while and just recently we saw another counselor who administers a special test. the main result of this test, was ADHD. i'd like to point out that this is NOT a diagnosis, but just what the test is pointing to. i'm terrified. confused. sad. angry. upset. happy. and everything else you can think of. i'd like to clarify that i'm happy because finally, there might be a reason he is the way he is and we might be able to turn it around and get along before it's too late. i'm so concerned about "our" future. i don't want to push him away from us, but i just feel like this is where we are headed.
anyway...for my slow down in posting....this really has been consuming my thoughts lately. my free time. my sleep time, for that matter. i'm just lost. so...that's all i have to post on that. we meet with our doctor in a little while to talk about what we're going to do. i may or may not post about that. we'll see.

Well, I don't think any less of him (or you) after hearing that. I just think it's great that you saw an issue and had him looked at. Many people don't, you know? This is soooo common now. I sometimes wonder how much stuff in the environment plays in. I'm sure that he will be fine no matter what route you choose to take. Just trust your gut and go with it. Take a deep breath. It could be so much worse! I know it's YOUR baby and you have every right to worry and feel those emotions, but in the long run this is just a minor bump in the road. :)
It is so conflicting to get a diagnosis like ADHD. It is a huge relief to know that your child has a reason for their struggles and misbehavior but we moms are thinking anything else but something like ADHD (at least I was). It truly is a blessing to know what is going on so you can "handle" it appropriately. I do think it's important one day, when they are much bigger, that our sons know how much we worked to make their lives as happy and successful as we possibly can. It shows how far we would go for their happiness. Just take it one day at a time -- you will both find your "groove" with all of this.
