update on my friend...

this news is straight from "the horse's mouth," as they say.
i couldn't take it anymore and wanted to see my friend, and talk to her in person. so i paid her a visit tonight. i had perfect timing, her family was just leaving so it was just her and i. she looks awesome! i was so happy to finally see her and hear her voice. it certainly made me feel a LOT better.
i had received some misinformation earlier today. i was led to believe that it indeed was lung cancer, but it definitely is not. it is the breast cancer returning and is inside and outside her lungs (and if i have it right, in the lining of one of her lungs). she got out of bed for the first time today and it was rough, but she made it to the cafeteria and back. she got to sit and have dinner with her kids for the first time in a while! YEAH!!!!
so...she has to kick the pneumonia. recover from that (gain strength back) and then she'll meet with the specialists to determine the best course of action to get rid of the cancer. she did inform me that the cancer was caused by estrogen, and that chemo is not the recommended course of treatment for this. but i didn't want to ask too many questions (as i'm sure she is asked all day every day).
i just want to end my evening on the note that she looks great! her hair and makeup were done. she was in her own clothes. she was smiling (not that she ever isn't smiling) and sounded so good.
so, continued prayers please. she still has a battle ahead. but one she'll beat. but she needs our prayers (and so does her family).
pray that the pneumonia goes away quickly.
pray that she regains her strength back quickly.
pray that the oncologists are full of good recovery news for her.
pray that her kids continue to be strong. they returned to school this week and i'm sure it's rough on them to be in school while mom is in the hospital.
