safety notices...

okay...so i had 2 events today that scared the sh*t out of me. neither of them was jacob starting kindergarten!!!

#1 i was outside in the garage (the door was down) and jack and jordyn were out there with me. i was in the car putting a new carseat in the backseat for the little boy i'm babysitting now. jordyn and jack like to play in my car, too. the keys were out of the car, my cup holder/coin collector area was tucked away. the worst that could happen is when i turn on my car, my blinkers will be on, the stereo would be loud and the wipers would be on.

before i could finish, i really needed to go potty. so i ran inside to do that. the van sliding door were open, but not the front seat doors (i worry about jordyn falling out, so i don't leave those open if she's in the front seat). i was inside not more than 1 minute (those who know me, know that i can go faster than most men) and when i came back out (oh yeah, i left the door to the garage from the laundry room open so that i could hear them) jack had shut both sliding doors and they were still in the car!!!!

i was sweating SOOOO bad from putting the carseat on and the doors were open. they were in there, not more than 1 minute, and jack was already sweating. i was completely freaked out. mind you, jack could have just as easily opened the door, and i would bet he would have, he was probably just opening and closing them anyway...but still. what if i was inside for more than a minute? i know it takes a lot longer for bad things to happen when locked in the car in heat...but OMG i was so scared.

#2 i was on the couch with jordyn and we were just chilling out watching a cartoon. jacob was on the computer and jack had just gone into the kitchen. nothing out of the ordinary. after a minute or two of complete silence in the kitchen i got up and looked over the couch. i could barely see jack's head on the other side of the island. i got off the couch and went into the kitchen to see him with jacob's Focalin (Rx bottle from MIDDLE of kitchen island), top off (i KNOW it was closed) and pouring it into another medicine container (that was empty, without a lid so that i could remember to get more). now again, i feel confident that jack would never put something like that in his mouth. but you never know. and i put it in the middle of the counter. my little spiderman climbs on EVERYTHING, but i can hear him when he's climbing my counters. not today...he was stealth-like. so now, meds are being moved even further up in my cabinets. the only reason it was on the counter (it's usually in the cabinet above a counter) this AM was because we were running out the door for school and i forgot to put it away.

so, i've learned some very important things today, and i hope that my terror has helped you as well. judge all you want...but i know that i take good care of my children---they are just DEVILS sometimes!!!! :)

now, my little man, jacob, is sound alseep next to me in my bed. mentally preparing for his first day of kindergarten....i just wish i could prepare for it!!!

Sophia is my ornery one, so I know exactly what you mean!

Have a great day, Jacob!
