st. peters recycle city

so we went to st. peters recycle center earlier this week. actually, we went last friday and got a sneak peak, then made an appointment for a tour on monday. the kids had a blast. jacob is all about recycling these days. it wasn't the greatest tour, but it was pretty cool. here are some pictures from our event:

this is where we watched the dump trucks bring trash in
front loaders loaded it on a conveyer belt
trash went up conveyer belt and through a room
where people pulled recyclables, that weren't in a blue bag, out
then it fell out a hole on the other side of the building
another front loader then picked it up
took it to the other side of the warehouse
loaded it into the GIANT dumpster for the landfill

this was a piece of art that someone had made out of trash
the whole thing is put together to be shaped like the
statue of liberty


it was a good day and a neat tour. i'm wanting to schedule another tour at another facility that accepts recyclables from ALL OVER!
