she was taking in a huge breath of air (you know how they do that when they get hurt) and i kept saying, "oh, it's going to be a big one. wait for it...wait for it..." but it didn't come. i swear to you it felt like 5 mintues...but was about 30 seconds and she finally took a breath and cried the tiniest little thing, then went limp in AUNT TERRI'S arms. her eyes were bouncing around in her head and she was completely listless. after a few seconds i took her from AUNT TERRI and then she told daddy to call 911. i was jostling her, tickling her rubbing her, calling her name but her eyes just kept bouncing around in their sockets and she just had no life in her. she was breathing, shallowly. i laid her on the floor. everyone, even jacob and jack, was calling her name. i kept rubbing her and shaking her a little to get her to wake up. she finally did (best guess is a minute or two???) and i picked her up. she remained lethargic for another few minutes while dad was still on the phone with dispatch. the ambulance showed up and she just looked right at them and seemed just fine. we took a ride to the hospital to get checked out anyway.
we went to st. joseph's west, and since we came via ambulance, we weren't held back. she had fallen asleep on the way there and didn't wake up for the transfer from vehicle to ER, stretcher to mom or for the nurse to listen to her breathing or check her O2 levels. she finally woke up when the doctor came in with her cold hands and checked her breathing down the back of her shirt. then it was game on. but i must say, she was a perfect angel for having missed a nap, having a big evening with guests, and the excitement of the hospital. she waved for everyone, smiled to everyone...except the CT scan lady. she was not jordyn's friend. needless to say, the CT scan was not clear and based on what they could see, they think everything is fine. based on the description of her eye actions, they were worried that she could have had a seizure. but she's acting fine, eating fine, not throwing up, she's alert, walking, talking, smiling and loving life. there's not a mark to show where she hit. no signs at all. most importantly, nothing to hold us back from surgery tomorrow.
dear God,
thank you so much for reminding me this evening how precious life is and how important our family is. thank you for keeping jordyn safely in our arms. please watch over her during her surgery tomorrow and keep her safe there as well. please aid in her recovery and help her to finally be free from her ear pain.
i ask this in your son's name,
Amen
