i took all 3 kiddos to best buy today and put jordyn and jack in the cart. i'm always really good about buckling jordyn up (and not JUST because she's starting to be a climber like her brother), but the first cart i put her in, the buckle wouldn't tighten up. the second cart i put her in, one of the buckle pieces was missing. i just left her in it anyway and put jack in the back.
jacob usually rides on the back of the cart. occassionally, he'll try to stand on the side, and i always get him off and explain that the cart might tip over. well...i was waiting in like to talk to a "geek" and pulled the cart right over by me (because jordyn wasn't buckled and i wanted her right by me) and i literally turned around for 1 second and jacob climbed on the side, pulled the cart down on top of himself and jordyn and jack both fell out!!!! i seriously thought my heart stopped beating. one lady on either side of me gasped and tried to reach out for it before it landed, but it was just so quick.
luckily, VERY luckily, no one was hurt. just scared (myself included). jordyn and jack both stopped crying as soon as i put my arms around them. jacob padded their falls. jacob cried for about 2 seconds...after he realized his sister and brother were crying. then we moved the cart, and he stopped and went on to start playing with the rope divider.
so...never again will i settle for a broken seat belt in the cart (though i do kind of think it might have hurt her if she were buckled in...i think she would have only landed with her head on the floor), and never will i allow jacob to hold onto the cart that way - on the sides, front OR back.
thank you God for watching out for my children today and keeping them safe. i do hope that this can teach jacob a lesson in safety and understand why it's important to be safe when doing everything. AMEN

And to think some people don't believe in Guardian Angels! Thanks God nothing happened to any of them. They were all very lucky today that Someone was watching out for them (thanks Dad?)
Wow how scary. I am glad everyone is okay! I am going to guess Jacob won't try that trick again!
you would think he wouldn't try it again...but he started to climb right back up on the side! at what point do they start using their noggins??????
I am telling my kids this story! I am always telling Claudia and Kaz to not ride on the side of the cart because they could tip it. How scary. Glad everyone was ok.
