well....kind of.
several weeks ago at one of jacob's indoor soccer games he got his very first, um....goal. it was a rough game. jacob's been having a rough time because he's always upset that his team never wins and that he's never gotten a goal. we try to make him feel better telling him that there are many people who haven't scored goals, and not everyone will. about the team losing every game...well, the teams we play must practice. some of them are older kids, too. they all seem very coordinated and are passing the ball and focusing really well.
so about jacob's goal...the other teams goalie had the ball and was going to throw it in and jacob used his best "basketball" defense with his arms up and jumping right in front of the goalie. the goalie threw it and it bounced off of jacob's hands (maybe wrists) and rolled right into the goal!!! they did count it as a goal, though i believe we were already losing 8 to 2. apparently one of the other teams parents were upset they counted it. but really....we weren't anywhere near their score. does it really matter?
also during this particular game, there was a kid on the other team that was just irritating jacob every time jacob was out. jacob tripped him once or twice, pulled on his shirt a couple times. it was tough. toward the end of the game this kid did something, and jacob pushed him. so this kid went back and pushed jacob, then jacob pulled his fist back and took a swing. granted, he was no where near the kid, and the ref had seen this happening and was in between them now...it was comical. but not good sportsmanship. he was reprimanded when the game was over (but secretly we were proud of him for standing up for himself).
